Barbour
Quality / Design

BWaterproof

A waterproof jacket that leaks at the seams is not waterproof! That's why Barbour insist that all their garments are constructed with special double rolled seams. Even the thread they use is especially treated so that it seals the needle holes!

BSpecial heavy duty zips.

Unlike some synthetic zips which rapidly wear with use, Barbour's big tooth, corrosion proof metal zips, just improve with use. Two way, for ease of movement and access to internal pockets, the big ring pull can still be operated with gloves or numb fingers.

BSolid Brass Studs

All Barbour snap studs are solid brass with an oxidized finish. Totally weather and corrosion proof, they are also of a self locating ball & spring loaded socket type, ensuring years of trouble free performance.

BSpecial Collars

All Barbour collars are lined with hard wearing Corduroy (except Durham) This is for warmth and practicality, they also have reinforced interlinings to help them keep their shape, and to keep them upright when required in wind and rain.

BHorse Sense

Another example of Barbours understanding customer needs, is the double rear vent and gusset on the 'Bedale Horseriding Jacket' which prevents water running on to the saddle.

BPerformance Cuffs

All models normally used for fishing or shooting have adjustable storm cuffs with Velcro fastenings which can be tightened to prevent water running down the arm, while the Bedale has convenient elasticated storm cuffs.

BPractical Pockets

It take four pieces of fabric apart from the flap to make a Barbour Bellows pocket, they even have rounded corners to prevent snagging on rough terrain. Side pockets are lined with insulating moleskin fabric.

No SweatBarbour thornproof jackets are waterproof and windproof, however the fabric retains tiny 'pores' which allow the passage of water vapour, allowing it to breath, preventing condensation on the inside which can cause rapid cool down after excercise.

BWholly Thornproof

If you've ever wondered why Barbour waxed cotton jackets are known as "Thornproof" Try going near a healthy briar, rose bush or thicket, in a synthetic jacket!! Even in the event that a Barbour jacket does get torn ( No Fabric will resist barbed wire frences) it can be repaired and returned to fully waterproof condition again.

BThe Wind chill Factor

When the wind gets up and the temperature goes down, another virtue of Barbours Thornproof fabric emerges. It is completely windproof and therefore helps to retain body warmth - properties that are further enhanced by the addition of one of Barbours special 'Warm Pile Linings' designed and sized especially for your particular style of jacket.

BHoods for Total Protection

Barbour has two sizes of studded hood to attach to the rear of the corduroy collar. A standard size for retaining maximum vision, and a large size for maximum protection with the collar up storm flap closed and hood fitted, even the most determined storm stays on the outside.

BAfter Sales Service

Without doubt, the world leader in after sales repair, reproofing and alteration of wax cotton jackets. Barbour Jackets of all ages and conditions are welcomed back at the factory for refurbishment at very modest cost. Simply return the jacket to any Barbour stockist or to one of one of the overseas subsidiaries listed in the handbook that comes with each jacket.

BBy Appointment

For those in the world who reside outside the British Commonwealth, an explanation of the three Coats of Arms above the Barbour Logo , may be helpful. They represent the Royal Warrants of Queen Elizabeth II, HRH Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh, and Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales. The Royal Warrants mean that Barbour has been appointed to supply these Members of the British Royal Family And while this honour carries great prestige it also carries great responsibility for a recipient Manufacturer to maintain the very highest standards of quality.
